The two natures of Jesus Christ part 1

Does the Church teach Angels?

Does the Church teach Angels? 1 Peter 1:12 /Ephesians 3:10 August 2023 By Russ Kujawski 1 Peter 1:12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. Ephesians 3:10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. These two verse would make it seem that the Angels don’t have a full understanding of what God’s wisdom has done for humanity and they desire to understand and see from the church that is the body of Christ of what God did. Lets start with 1 Peter 1:12. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. It was reveled to them: The them are the prophets of the old testament they understood that they were serving or ministering to the people of the day and people of the future. The things they prophesied about were proven by the Apostles. [have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you] Things into which angels long to look. :The Angels long to understand or desired to understand Gods eternal purpose for humanity. They the Angels are watching. 1 Corinthians 4:9 For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. Making it necessary that Christians conduct themselves properly. Part of God’s eternal purpose is to show His wisdom to the angelic beings through His work with the church. God wants the angels to look in on what He does in the church, and the idea is that the angels are bending over with intense interest and desire to learn. From Hiebert :Therefore, they desire to see and learn. This word desire “Denotes a strong interest or craving. The present tense portrays a present, continued inner yearning to comprehend. The term does not imply that the desire cannot or should not be fulfilled, but it does mark an enduring angelic effort to comprehend more of the mystery of human salvation.” Grudem’s Systematic Theology: “The longing must therefore include a holy curiosity to watch and delight in the glories of Christ’s kingdom as they find ever fuller realization in their lives of individual Christians throughout the history of the church.” From Hiebert: 1 Timothy 3:16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. [likewise picture the supernatural world eagerly observing God’s program of human redemption. The concept seems grounded in Jesus’ words in where angels are said to rejoice over one repentant sinner.” Luke 15:7Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. , 10 Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” With the Angels desire to understand the salvation plan for an imperfect people. They are watching what's happening in the plan for salvation ,and they rejoice when someone excepts God’s plan for salvation. Ephesians 3:10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known: What is the Church? There are various type of churches, the simple answer is a body of people united. I’m only looking at what constitutes a Christian Church. So what is a Christian church? The whole body of Christians scattered throughout the earth. Its not one particular building or denomination , its all bible believing Christians through out the world. With Christ as the head. Colossians 1:18 And he (Jesus Christ) is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. A Short Rabbit Trail From Christianity.com The church’s status today can often leave us frustrated or disappointed. I can’t speak for the church globally, but I will speak about the church here in America. There are many areas where the church has veered off course, and we need a course correction to get back on track. A good place to begin would be to remember Christ is the head of the church. Everything the church does—whether done by you, your local church, or the church universal—should be for Christ and about Christ. Too often, we have made church about personalities, programs, politics, and entertainment… and left Christ, the head of the church, out of the mix. We may mention his name, but we don’t want his influence and leadership to manifest themselves. What if it threatened our position? The problem not only shows in some of the things that happen on Sundays. The problem is also clear in how we, Christ’s followers, behave outside the church sanctuary. The time is now for the church to return to her roots, recognizing Christ is the head of the church. We must recognize his leadership in everything we do, not just pay him lip service. The Corner stone: the important stone for building a proper foundation Christ, as the head, holds a position that no one else can occupy. He is the superior figure of the church. He is the essential piece in building and maintaining the church. Without him, we end up with a weak, dysfunctional church void of any power or influence. I know we like to blame the culture or society for this, but the church must also shoulder some of this blame. We have moved away from Christ as our sure foundation. We have made church about something else other than Jesus. What I see is that the Church is compromising scripture to support their own personal beliefs and is compromising scripture to support the evil penetrating society and the church today . End of Rabbit trail. Back to the study EPH 3:10 Through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. : Gods wisdom is made known through the true bible believing Church not the compromised church.”The church as a multi-racial, multi-cultural community is like a beautiful painting. Its members come from a wide range of colorful backgrounds. No other human community resembles it. Its diversity and harmony are unique. God's wisdom is reflected in the church's construction. The church is to be an audio-visual display of God's reconciling work. In this primary way the church testifies to God's grace and wisdom. So Paul encouraged living life in Christ in such a way that reconciliation is the dominant feature of church life. To use the word of the day, the church is all inclusive. Anyone can come to Christ and receive forgiveness . BUT that does not mean you can continue to live in sin as the scripture defines sin. Romans 6:1-2 1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? This verse is referencing that once you came to Christ you died to sin, so therefor that life style must end. You stop living in sin . We will have times of failure . For that reason we have an advocate before God the Father. 1Jo 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Rulers and Authority's in the heavenly places are Angels. Another example of Angels . Eph 6:10-12 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. You can see in verse 12 it identifies some of the same ranked angels. In this case the context would indicate to me these are fallen angels.I would like to back up and look at the word Manifold. Manifold: Greek Strong's G4182 polypoikilos pronunciation:pol-oo-poy'-kil-os it comes from 2 other Greek words. 1. Strong's G4183 - polys meaning: many, 2. Strong's G4164 - poikilos meaning :a various colors, variegate Gods color full wisdom is manifested in the body of Christ ,the Church. The angels are watching , seeing the work of God’s wisdom within the Bible believing Church. From David Guzik:To the principalities and powers in the heavenly places: This means that angelic beings are interested and instructed by the lives of Christians. This is why the conduct of the church is so important: because angelic and demonic beings are looking on, and God’s intent is to teach them through us. (Alford)“The Angels are instructed in God’s wisdom… by the fact of the great spiritual body, constituted in Christ, which they contemplate, and which is to them the theatre of the glory of God.” (Stott, quoting Mackay) “The history of the Christian church becomes a graduate school for angels.” To answer the question Does the church teach angels? YES the church is the university of the angels. God Bless
