Let The Holy Spirit Be Your Guide

When you hear the phrase from a Disney movie “Let your conscious be your guide “ what do you think of ? That cricket Jimminy Cricket. Then the TV series Once Upon A Time comes out and the guy that’s the cricket is a psychologist ,that messes up the image of the cricket for me. I personally don’t have any faith in shrinks.

As a Bible believing Christian what is your guide? Some will say the Word of God ,absolutely .There is another guide for Bible believing Christians. (I use the phrase “Bible believing Christians “,because there are many who call themselves Christians ,yet don't crack open the Word of God ,don't tend church or a Bible Study, don't really do anything that would Identify them as a Christian besides saying I'm a Christian. I think they should reevaluate there relation ship with Christ and make the necessary changes in their walk. From the Waymouth New Testament James 2:22 You notice that his faith was co-operating with his actions ,and by his actions his faith was perfected.

Is your faith co-operating with your actions? OK off my soap box and back to The Holy spirit.

The Holy Spirit is our guide: John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,( or advocate,counselor) to be with you forever.

The Helper ,advocate,counselor is the Holy Spirit. He is provided to us as to guide us in our walk ,our relationship with Christ. He is there to help us distinguish between right and wrong.

John 14:17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

The spirit of truth or the Holy Spirit dwells or abides in you. The Greek word for dwell means: to stay or remain. That tells us that the Holy Spirit is with us always.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

1 John 2: 27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

John 16: 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

The Holy Spirit will teach us and give us understanding. The Holy Spirit will guide us in truth.

1 John 27 We need to be careful not to take this as we don't need to associate with other believers for study ,encouragement or to be an encouragement to others for there is sufficient scripture to go against that thought. I would take this as ,when we study the Holy Spirit will give us understanding.

To finish this out ,the Holy Spirit lives (dwells, abides) in us He teaches us ,gives us understanding ,counsels us in truth and right and wrong. He is not a cricket He is the third person of the Trinity ( God the Father ,God the Son ,and God the Holy Spirit. Seek his guidance today he is there for us.

I don't prompt to many book ,one you might like for further study on the Holy Spirit is Francis Chans book :The forgotten God it also come with a study guide .I would encourage you to read it with the Word in hand. I think you will like it.
