Stop Kicking

Acts 26:14English Standard Version (ESV)

14 And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew

language,‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

Paul is recounting his conversion to King Agrippa here . I want to focus not on what Paul said but what Jesus said to Paul.

It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

What does that mean ,kicking against the goads? Whats a goad ?

Goad:an iron goad, for urging on oxen, horses and other beasts of burden

It was used to direct animals . Had Jesus been directing Saul who's name was changed to Paul,through out his life .I'm going to say yes. Paul was a Jew of all Jew's he was known through out the land, he was a Pharisee, and he had Christians killed .

Yet God /Jesus was indeed directing him to himself for works that he had prepared for him.

To get his attention directly God knocked him down. To use King James English he got knocked off his ass (donkey) And spoke to him directly.

Are you fighting the direction God has for you ?

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

May I say that maybe the things your going thru in life is God directing you to him.

Stop kicking against the goads.

Call on Jesus the Christ to enter your life and get the rest ,peace and comfort you desire,that is only achieved thru Jesus. Life issues don't go away you still need to deal with them,in Christ you get the help of the Holy Spirit .We become Gods temple and his Spirit dwells in us ,that is makes his residence in us.

16 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

Life isn't easy especially in today’s world. Call on Christ and get the only help that has eternal results.
